June 9 West Buttress Team – Happy Father’s Day Shoutout!

June 9 West Buttress Team called in an update from Camp Three at around 14,200′! It sounds like everyone on the team is feeling strong and doing well. They had just sat down to enjoy dinner in their cook tent after a long day on the route. Everyone on the team is feeling strong and sprits are high.

The team was able to ascend the fixed lines about 14-Camp and cache on the ridge at around 16,700′. This will put them in place to make a move up the stunning and exposed 16-ridge to High Camp, to put them in place to make their summit push. The route continues to become steeper and more serious from this point forward, as they slowly ascend higher than most of the surrounding peaks in the Alaska Range.
