Climber Gary Lewis from the May 21 West Buttress team called in an update from Camp Three on the mountain, at 14,200′, after a big push from 11,200′. The team climbed through the cloud layer that generally hangs around Denali Pass and emerged to great weather up high.
The team will spend a few days acclimatizing to the thinner air of the upper mountain; 14,200′ is an essential stop-over for the climbers to adjust to the high altitudes that await.
Here’s Gary with the quick update!
Best wishes to everyone!
