May 7 Denali West Buttress Team – Moves to High Camp (17,200′)

Quick Update on the May 7 West Buttress Team:

The May 7 team is moving to high camp (17,200′) today. Lachlan Grassie and Akshay Nanavati are the climbers moving to high camp along with Lead Guide Logan Demarcus and Assistant guide Dan Hohl. The team will call in a dispatch tonight, and we’ll have a more extensive update about their day tomorrow! Climber Corey Anderson, went down with guide Carly Casternovia and is currently at Camp 1 moving towards basecamp.

Remember, no news is good news!

  1. So good to get the update and know that you all are doing well and making smart (and no doubt, difficult) decisions. The mountain has looked stunning from Anchorage today–hope you are getting some weather respite and that the clear sky doesn’t make it too cold! Sending good thoughts and love your way.

  2. It’s great to hear from you, I was getting concerned. Glad to see you are moving up the mountain, but I’m sorry to hear that Carly and Corey are returning to basecamp. I hope all is well. I also hope they aren’t too disappointed that they aren’t going to make it to the top. Carly, I’m sure there will be a next time for you. Uncle Richie and I are so proud of you and how you can hold your own as tiny as you are, your backpack probably weights just about as much as you do. Sending you and Corey lots of positive energy! Love you so much!
