May 22 Team Moves to Camp 3

Kuntal updates us from Camp 3. They enjoyed perfect, sunny weather as they left Camp 2, rounded Windy Corner, and settled in to their new home at Camp 3 at 14,200′ (4328m). Arriving at Camp 3 is always full of excitement. Many teams end up congregating here as they wait for their opportunity to move to High Camp and then their summit bid. Teams typically wait for a good weather window, hopefully summit conditions, before moving to High Camp to do their best to shorten their time there as conditions at 17,200′ (5242m) can be pretty harsh. Camp 3 is often very social with teams from around the world sharing snacks and stories. The team gets a great view from here of Mount Foraker (Sultana) and of the fixed lines up to the ridge at 16,200′ (4937m) and beyond. We’ll explain fixed lines later. Today the team will enjoy a deserved rest day!
