June 5 Team Moves to Camp 2

One of our guides, Joe, calls in to update us from Camp 2 last night! The team left Camp 1 at 7,800′ (2377m) and made their up 3,400′ of elevation gain and only a couple miles to Camp 2. Camp 2 starts to feel more like you are in and on the mountain instead of on the large expanse of the glacier as it flows down the valley. It lies at the base of some incredible seracs (large columns of ice peeling away from a steeper portion of the glacier above) and granite walls. It provides a view of the tippy top of some of the peaks along the lower part of the glacier. Teams here will start to practice more technical skills to prepare for the upper mountain. Today the team will be leaving Camp 2 to go back to their cache site at 10,200′ (3108m) and tomorrow they will climb all the way to Windy Corner at 13,200′ (4023m) to put in a cache for their Camp 3 move.
