Zahid Brothers Denali Climb Meets In Anchorage

Mountain Trip is pleased to welcome Mohamed and Haytham Zahid to Alaska!  Our first Denali expedition of the 2017 season met in Anchorage today to review equipment and finalize their packing for a planned 22 day trip up the iconic West Buttress route.  This team has joined us courtesy of our friends at Adventure Consultants in New Zealand.

Mike Stuart and Ross MacKay from New Zealand will join Mountain Trip guides Eli Potter and Jesse Wright as the group travels to the small town of Talkeetna tomorrow, from where they will fly deep into the heavily glaciated and rugged Alaska Range.  Their ski-equipped plane will land at 7,200 feet (2200m) on the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier, the site of Denali’s Base Camp.  Hauling sleds and hefting large packs, the team will climb 13,000 feet, almost 4000m, over the next weeks as they make their way towards the top of North America’s tallest mountain.

Denali is situated just three degrees below the Arctic Circle, and is famous for it’s fierce winds and intense storms.  We encourage you to follow the Zahids as they pursue this adventure and hopefully stand on top of one of the toughest of the famed Seven Summits!
