The 2016 Mountain Trip Everest Season is underway!

Mountain Trip is back in Nepal again this spring with an Expedition to climb Mount Everest, and a trek to Everest Base Camp.   It’s been a tough couple of years in Nepal, and they are still recovering from the earthquake last season, but our local team is as excited as we are to get underway and have a successful season on Everest.

Our Sherpa team is already in base camp preparing for our arrival in another 2 weeks.  It is a ton of work to establish our base camp on the rocky, icy toe of the Khumbu glacier.   They’ll move tons of rock and flatten out spots for our kitchen, dining tent, and personal tents to establish our comfortable home for the next couple of months.  We are lucky to be working with a great crew again this year.

The climbers and trekkers have all gathered in Kathmandu in the last couple of days and everyone is excited to be in Nepal and to head up into the Himalayas tomorrow.  We’ve spent the last day or two exploring Kathmandu’s temples, organizing gear, and trying to recover from the jetlag brought on by a +/- 12 hour time change.

Our Everest climbing team for 2016 is the father/daughter team of Greg and Vanessa Blasic and guide Bill Allen.  We will also have a team of trekkers accompanied by our guide Ben Adkison.  On the trek to Everest base camp this season will be Gary Paulson, Jack Lynch, Oliver Livermore, Luke Kelerhouse, Rachel and Ephi Gildor.  We’ve enjoyed a bit of time in Kathmandu, but it’s time to hit the trail, so we are meeting at 4:45 in the morning tomorrow to head to the airport to catch an early flght to Lukla and begin our advneture!
