DECEMBER 26 VINSON TEAM AT VINSON BASE CAMP

Guide Jacob Schmitz called in a report this morning with the good news that the team is in Vinson Base Camp! The climbers arrived at Union Glacier at approximately 1 AM, slept for a few hours, then boarded another plane for the short flight to Vinson Base Camp. The team set up camp, enjoyed a meal of hamburgers, and the climbers are now getting some well deserved rest. They’ve come a long way in the past 12 hours! The plan is to rest, hydrate, and go over some skills this afternoon, and if the weather cooperates the team will pack up and move to Low Camp tomorrow.
