Everest Team Calls in from Dingboche

Scott called in today after trekking up from Deboche to the village of Dingboche.   This is one of our favorite spots, and at just over 14,000 ft it is a great place to hang out and acclimate a bit before pushing up the valley towards base camp.   They had another beautiful day of trekking today, and everybody is doing great and having a good time.  One of the traditions of an Everest Expedition is to get a blessing from Llama Geshe on the way through his village, which our team did today.  It’s a neat experience, and his walls are covered with pictures of climbers on top of big Himalayan mountains, so it puts the adventure in perspective a bit.  This blessing is important to our Sherpa team, who stopped in as well on the way towards Everest base camp.

They’ll spend the next 3 nights here in Dingboche at the Snow Lion lodge, which is run by our friend Mingma Sherpa.  She spends the winter in Chamonix, and has the best cappuccinos and croissants in the Khumbu.
