Annete Storesund called in a very nice and detailed post from 7,800′ (2380m) on the broad Kahiltna Glacier. The team departed Base Camp at about 04:00 and arrived at the site of their Camp 1 not long after the sun hit the trail. It sounds like everyone is doing great, in good spirits, and excited for the days to come.
Their camp is situated at the junction of the Northeast Fork (NEF) of the Kahiltna Glacier, and the view up the NEF is spectacular. The photo below shows the view of much of the South Face and western aspects of Denali, as seen from Camp 1. The vertical relief is hard to comprehend, as the summit is 13,500′ (4100m) above camp!
