The June 13th team is currently holding at High Camp, located at 17,200 feet (5,243 meters) on Denali’s West Buttress. After a strong climb from Camp 3 (14,200 ft / 4,328 m) and a successful move up the fixed lines and 16,000 ft ridge (4,877 m), the team has been met with challenging alpine conditions that are currently affecting their summit plans.
Specifically, unstable snow and avalanche risk along the Autobahn section of the route — a steep traverse that begins just above High Camp and leads toward Denali Pass at 18,200 feet (5,547 meters) — has temporarily halted upward progress. This section is one of the most exposed on the West Buttress and requires ideal conditions to move safely.
With safety as the top priority, the team is monitoring the terrain closely and awaiting improved stability before making any attempt toward the summit. Spirits remain steady, and the climbers are staying warm, well-fed, and focused while they ride out this weather and snow cycle.
