The June 19th team is officially on the move. After flying in yesterday, they traveled overnight from Basecamp (7,200 ft / 2,195 m) to Camp 1 (7,800 ft / 2,377 m). Moving in the early morning kept conditions cool and stable as they climbed Heartbreak Hill and got their first big day on the glacier under their belts. Everyone is now settled in at Camp 1 and doing well.
Dinner tonight was pulled pork tacos — a warm reward after a long haul. Spirits are high, and the team is resting up for a planned move tomorrow to 9,800 ft / 2,987 m on Ski Hill. With great weather and strong momentum, the June 19th team is off to a solid start on the West Buttress. Tap the recording link below to hear their live dispatch from the mountain.
