The June 15th team has arrived at Camp 2, also known as 11 Camp (11,000 ft / 3,353 m) after a smooth climb from their previous camp on Ski Hill. Today’s stretch followed the gradual roll of the upper Kahiltna Glacier, climbing through crevassed terrain and gaining steady elevation. The team moved well and arrived in high spirits, ready to settle into one of the most important acclimatization stops on the West Buttress route. They’ve now built camp in the snowy basin below Motorcycle Hill, where climbers often spend several days preparing for higher altitudes.
Dinner tonight: pork tacos — a Denali favorite after a long day of hauling loads and setting tents. With clear weather holding, the group is planning a carry around Windy Corner (13,300 ft / 4,054 m) tomorrow to cache gear and continue their methodical push up the route. Everyone is healthy, strong, and grateful for the support pouring in from friends and family. Sending love from Camp 2 — tap the recording link below to hear their live dispatch from the mountain.
