June 5th Team Weather Day at High Camp

The June 5th team spent today holding tight at High Camp after a full rest day yesterday. They arrived earlier this week after making the climb from 14,200 ft (4,328 m), up the fixed lines to 16,200 ft (4,938 m), then across the airy West Buttress ridge to reach 17,200 ft (5,243 m).

Today brought about 12 hours of steady wind, so the crew stayed tent-bound—resting, hydrating, and keeping spirits up while they wait for a summit window. At this altitude, patience is part of the process. No movement today, just lots of hot drinks, warm sleeping bags, and hopeful conversations about the forecast.

Everyone is acclimated and ready to go when the weather shifts. When the skies clear, they’ll begin their summit push—climbing past Denali Pass (18,200 ft / 5,548 m), across the Football Field (19,500 ft / 5,944 m), and up to the summit at 20,310 ft (6,190 m).

For now, it’s all about staying warm, staying focused, and trusting the timing. More soon!
