📍June 11 | West Buttress Route
Team: June 1st Crew
Location: Camp 3 (14,200 ft / 4,328 m)
Today’s update came in with broken radio contact — a common challenge on Denali, where deep glacial basins and sharp ridgelines often scramble transmissions.
From what we could hear, the June 1st team successfully made the move from Camp 2 (11,200 ft / 3,414 m) to Camp 3 (14,200 ft / 4,328 m) and is doing well. This section of the West Buttress route includes the steep climbs of Motorcycle Hill and Squirrel Hill, followed by a long, exposed traverse around Windy Corner — one of the most iconic and demanding features of the route.
The team is now settled into 14 Camp, a wide glacial plateau surrounded by towering granite walls and serac-lined ridges. From here, they’ll rest, acclimate, and begin prepping for their next major objective: ascending the Headwall toward High Camp.
