May 20 Team Climbed to 16,400ft

The May 20 team enjoyed a nice day on the upper mountain.  They climbed up to 16,400 ft, a beautiful spot on the ridge connecting to high camp, and cached supplies in preparation for moving up. The climb above Camp 3 in the Genet Basin is some of the steepest and most engaging and beautiful terrain of the trip. They climb up out of the basin using fixed lines as it gets steep towards the ridge of the West Buttress of Denali. The ridge is a narrow and beautiful section connecting to high camp at 17,000 ft and the views on either side are stunning.

They had a nice day to enjoy the climb and the views today, they got their supplies caches and ready for moving to high camp, and they got another chance to acclimatize to the high altitudes they’ll move up to in a few days, so it was a successful day for the team!

Here’s Ty checking in this evening from Camp 3…
