Denali Expedition Update – June 3, 2025
Camp 1 | Elevation: 7,800 ft / 2,377 m | Weather: Cold, stormy, and snowy — limited visibility
Now six days into their West Buttress expedition, the May 28th team remains at Camp 1 on the wide Kahiltna Glacier at 7,800 feet (2,377 m). Snowier and stormier than expected, the weather has paused their planned move to Camp 2 at 11,200 feet (3,414 m), which marks the next major push up Motorcycle Hill.
In the meantime, the team is resting, eating well, and staying warm in tents with movies, laughter, and a growing sense of camaraderie. Spirits are high, and they’ve already begun to bond into a strong, supportive unit. They’ll reassess conditions tomorrow and hope for a break in the storm. Over and out from Camp 1.
