Climber Chris called in an update for the May 20 West Buttress team. After caching above Camp One, the team was able to successfully make the move up to Camp Two at 11,200, a fairly big day, up several steep, well-known hills on the route.
While teams on the upper mountain are experiencing snow and high winds, the team experienced beautiful weather below the clouds, with some bluebird conditions for part of their move up to Camp Two. If the weather allows, they will likely head back down to Denali Pass to retrieve their cache today.
Here’s the update from Chris!
