West Buttress Team Kevin and Eric – Ready to move to 14-Camp

Climber Eric Bauernschmitdt called in an update from 11,200′, Camp Two, after returning from a successful day of caching around Windy Corner. The team had calm, clear weather with views across the Alaska Range, and infamous Windy Corner did not live up to its intimidating name. They are now in good position to move up to 14,200′, Camp Three, where they will spend a number of days caching, back-carrying to retrieving their most recent cache and practicing skills for the upper mountain. Their time at 14-Camp, as it’s also known, will provide invaluable acclimatization as they progress higher on the route.

It seems like so far the team has experienced much better weather and conditions than their attempt last year, and seem to be in high spirits.

Here’s Eric, with another birthday shoutout to guide Jason Denley!
