Lead guide Dan Hohl texted in his dispatch for the May 25 team to report that all expedition members are doing swell after they “crushed the hike out through the night on 6/9”! The descent from the team’s high point of Camp 4 17,200 ft (5242 m) to Denali base camp 7,200 ft (2194 m) is a test of endurance that can take one to two days of travel with heavy loads. To celebrate making the full circle journey back to their starting point the team spend the following day napping and snacking while waiting for the next air taxi flight out.
We want to send our heartfelt congratulations and stoke to each member of this team for their incredible effort on their expedition. This crew completed the majority of the West Buttress route on the highest peak of North America and should be proud of all they accomplished here. We look forward to hearing word that this team will be able to fly back to Talkeetna for food and showers, soon!
Well Done to all of you!! Amazing! It’s been great to follow your progress, looking forward to the photos and catch up Licia 👏👏👏
