May 19th Team – Moves up to Camp 3

The May 19th team made it up to 14 Camp today! It’s a big move and an important step on the West Buttress.

The push from Camp 2 to 14 is one of the longer days on Denali, gaining about 3,000 feet through some of the more demanding terrain on the route. The team climbed up through Windy Corner at 13,500 feet, worked their way along the upper traverse, and rolled into camp at 14,200 feet.

It was a later finish than planned, which can happen on a move day like this. A lot of small factors can shift the timing on a big day at altitude, and what matters is that the team got into camp safely.

For now, the May 19th team is settled in at 14, getting camp set up and resting after a long day. The upper mountain is in view from here, and the team is in a good spot for what comes next.
