May 19th Team – Backcarry day at Camp 2

The May 19th team back-carried today, bringing the rest of their supplies up to camp and consolidating their position on the mountain. With everything now in one place, the team is ready to focus on what comes next.

Back-carry days are a steady part of the expedition rhythm on Denali. The team heads down to the cache, digs out the supplies, repacks everything into sleds and packs, and hauls it all back up to camp. The loads are heavy on the return leg, but the route is familiar ground at this point, and the work tends to go more smoothly than a brand-new push higher.

There’s also a real value in just getting the work done. Each back-carry is one less thing standing between the team and the next move up the mountain, and the more streamlined the team’s position becomes, the easier it is to take advantage of good weather when it shows up.

For now, the May 19th team is settled in at camp with another productive day behind them. The team is in good shape and continuing to make steady progress on the route.
