Kilimanjaro Team in High Camp!

The trekkers woke up in Karanga Camp this morning at an elevation of 13,000′, where they are getting acclimatized after a few days at or near that elevation on the trek. Everyone is starting to feel stronger at this elevation after some “altitude headaches” for the first couple of days, they are ready to push up higher. After breakfast, they made the short push up to their high camp, Barafu, at just over 15,000′. They will rest for a bit this evening, and wake up at around 10 p.m. to start the climb to the summit in the middle of the night. The goal will be to reach the rim of the summit crater of Kilimanjaro around sunrise tomorrow morning, and continue along the crater rim to the highest point in Africa!

This is a long day, but the team has been doing great and we’re wishing them luck for a beautiful summit morning tomorrow!
