June 6th Team – Snow at Camp 3

Lead Mountain Trip Guide Jason Denley checked in on behalf of our June 6th West Buttress expedition. They spent the day resting, acclimatizing and watching it snow from the comfort of their Camp 3, nestled in the big Genet Basin at 14,200′. As the day wound toward evening, the skies above cleared, giving the team an amazing view of the upper mountain and out across a sea of clouds to the south, with Mount Foraker and Hunter poking up as islands punctuating the white.

They are hoping that the clear skies continue, so they can make the tough ascent from Camp 3 to their planned High Camp three thousand feet above. The climb ahead is steeper than anything the team has yet climbed on the route and follows a beautiful ridge to lead them to camp. It is fun climbing, but it’s a big day, so they need decent weather in order to make the push.

Here’s Jason!
