The guys descended almost 10,000 ft yesterday from 17,200 ft at high camp down to camp 1 at 7,800 ft. They arrived early this morning and are going to spend the day resting there. There was a blanket of low clouds over the Kahiltna last night keeping the warmth in, and preventing the snow from freezing well. They’ll spend the day at camp 1 today and hope for a clear night and freeze tonight to make for better traveling conditions on the lower glacier. Durny called in this morning, and sounded pretty tired after several big days, so while they are anxious to get back to Talkeetna, a day of rest is welcome as well.
