June 12 Denali Team – Backcarried to Camp 2

Lead Guide Brian Muller called in from 11,200′, where the team is camped in a stunning basin, ringed with ice cliffs and steep snow walls.  Today, the team dropped downhill to retrieve a cache they had buried in the snow at an elevation of about 10,000′ two days ago.  They then shouldered their packs and carried all the retrieved supplies back to the site of their Camp 2.

Today was a relatively easy day for the team, and they had plenty of down time after the 2.5 hours of work.  The plan for tomorrow is to carry loads up and around the infamous Windy Corner (a steep ridge of rock that drops sharply down from the West Buttress, to an elevation of about 13,500′.
