June 10th Team – Caches around Windy Corner

The June 10th team got a cache in around Windy Corner today! It’s a major step forward on the West Buttress and a great day on the upper mountain for the team.

The morning started a little later than planned, with cold temperatures in camp pushing the team’s departure back a bit. Cold mornings are a normal part of life at Camp 2, and waiting for things to warm up just enough to move efficiently is often the smart call. Once the team got rolling, they made the most of the day. By all reports, the climbers crushed it on the climb up to Windy Corner, putting in solid work to get their supplies staged higher up the route.

Windy Corner sits at around 13,500 feet and is one of the more notorious sections of the West Buttress. It earns its name by funneling wind off the upper mountain, and conditions there can shift quickly. Getting a cache through that section is a meaningful milestone and a sign that the team is climbing well together.

Looking ahead, the team is planning to make the move up to 14 Camp tomorrow, with the goal of leaving Camp 2 at 10 AM. With supplies now staged past the Corner, tomorrow’s move will be lighter than it would have been otherwise, and the team is in a great position to keep building momentum on the route.

For now, the June 10th team is back at Camp 2, resting up after a strong day and getting ready for the big push to 14 tomorrow.
