Everest Team Preparing for Summit Push!

Everest Base Camp
All ready to go and holding here at base camp at the moment. We are very closely monitoring traffic going up to Camp 2 and the weather. With 40 knots forecast for tomorrow and 35 knots the next day we are not too motivated to move up quite yet. There are some low wind days coming and we will be targeting those.
Very happy to be all covid negative after several earlier cases. Thats been a big concern for all as we approached our summit window. Good to go now….
After studying Typhoon Yaas, we are starting to get concerned that this may be a factor in the later season windows. We are still seeing a lot of precip today from the first Typhoon. The whole mountain at the moment is quite windy with blowing snow at all upper levels all this morning. Something we do not want to move up into. Right now its some of the worse weather we have seen this season. Hoping for better soon!
Part of our sherpa team launched this morning for Camp 2. They will be watching for the first opportunities to move loads up to the South Col over the next few days. These guys are the real rock stars on Everest!
Jacob and team are closely watching for the best window which will be based on number of teams and weather. Will post as soon as a firm plan to move up to Camp 2. It’s been postponed now till the morning of the 22nd now.
For now its cards, awesome food (smoked chicken pizza last night!), and last minute preparation for a big move up!
Cheers from the Mountain Trip Base Camp!

Evening update:
Our Sherpa team moved to Camp 2 last night, arriving safely this morning.  They’ll be making one more push to the S. Col in the coming days to stock the last Oxygen and equipment and then will take a few days rest before the teams summit attempt. Nice work guys!

  1. All the very best to the Mountain Trip team and much love to the very special Elsie. Am holding you in my thoughts and sending positive vibes for better weather and a safe trip to the summit and back down. There’s no-one I’d rather share the 7 Summits podium with than you!

    • Glad everyone Covid clear and hope that weather window opens. Get Diarmuid to give you his full Irish reportoire ( songs, poetry and comedy) while you are waiting 😅. Keep safe and in our thoughts all the time for safe summit and return.
