May 29th Team – Durny reports from 11,200′

Lead guide Rob (Durny) Durnell called in to let us know that the team carried gear around Windy Corner today.  Windy Corner is a prominent rib of rock that drops down from over 15,000′ on the West Buttress and creates a challenging zone for climbers to pass on occasion.  It sounds like today it was moderately so, with enough wind to make things interesting.

This feature, when living up to its moniker, can be a real show-stopper, as it can be impassable at high wind levels.  Below are some images of  the area the team climbed through today, including some of Windy Corner getting a bit blustery, probably like it was for our crew.

Below Windy Corner on a not-so-nice, but OK, day.

A team departing the cache site at about 13,700', on a blustery day. Windy Corner is the prominent rib of rock and snow that drops down and left.

Turning the "Corner" on a nice day!

Here’s Durny!
