Lawrence Cutler took command of the satellite phone yesterday and called in from 11,200′ yesterday. It sounds like the weather was pretty marginal, so they decided not to push it. One of the challenges of making a decision as to whether to stay or go from this particular camp is that you can’t really see what is going on at the crux bit of the route above, Windy Corner. Being nestled in a deep basin is nice in some ways, but the walls obscure the views of the route above.
Enjoy Lawrence’s audio post. From his description, it sounds like they’re really suffering up there. NOT![audio:http://mountaintripdenali2011.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/audio-post-2011-05-01-04-11-42.mp3|titles=Audio Post]
