Mendoza! Heading out of town.

The February 1st Mountain Trip Aconcagua team headed to basecamp today! The climbers, Micky Goldschmidt, Shneur Gershuni, and William Hennessy met our guide Fermin in Mendoza yesterday for a quick gear check before launching into the Andes for the next couple of weeks. heart of the Andes and the small ski area of Penitentes where the trails to Aconcagua begin.  Our teams do a traverse of the mountain, approaching the mountain up the Vacas Valley to the Plaza Argentina basecamp, and eventually descending the other side of the mountain down to the Plaza de Mulas basecamp and out the Horcones Valley.  Today they began their 3 day hike to basecamp, mules are carrying all of their equipment and they will be hiking with daypacks between camps.
