Aconcagua Team at Camp 2

The team is doing great and moving right up the mountain! Yesterday (Friday, Jan. 17) they moved up to Camp 2 at 5,480 meters or just shy of 18,000 feet. This is a beautiful camp on a ridge on the North side of Aconcagua with amazing views of the Andes and the upper mountain. They spent the night, and then after breakfast this morning, they climbed up to High Camp at 19,700 feet to continue the acclimatization process. It was a bit of a stormy, windy day at High Camp, but they spent a bit of time up there before descending back down to their tents at Camp 2 for another night. They are in a great position now to take advantage of the next weather opportunity to move on up and try for the summit. You can follow along with the weather forecast for Aconcagua and see what day looks good.

Here’s a bunch of pictures from the team from the last two days moving up to Camp 2, and then a trip to High Camp today.
