The Jan. 8 Mountain Trip Aconcagua team continues to cruise on up the mountain. On their final day of the approach hike they reached the Plaza Argentina Base Camp! Base Camp sits at nearly 14,000 feet, so this is a good spot to take an extra day or two to acclimatize and recover before continuing up. It’s also a relatively luxurious place where they can enjoy great food cooked by an amazing support team and lounge in our heated dining dome. They have hot showers, Internet, and the hospitality of our local Argentine hosts so they won’t be suffering much for the next few days. Tomorrow they’ll plan to take a rest/recovery/acclimatization day around Base Camp after three days of trekking. They’ll appreciate a day to relax.
