Mount Everest Team at Camp Two

Lead Mountain Trip guide Jacob Schmitz called in an update for the team from Camp Two at 6400m, just shy of 21,000′. The route between camps has an elevation gain of about 1,500′. The ascent usually takes between two and three hours and is 1.7 miles, and feels very strenuous in the thin air.

The team will be spending the night at Camp Two this evening for more acclimatization as they continue their journey up the route. They continue to have prevailing good weather on the horizon.

Here’s Jacob with the update. Unfortunately the reception for the team’s satellite phone is not great, but you can make out a few things here and there, so we figured we would post.

  1. We’re following your progress with great interest, Daniel. You’re regularly in our thoughts. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, brother. Love, Jim Guy & Joan Laidig
