Dave Strange had the honors of calling in the dispatch tonight from "Plaza Argentina" which is base camp for the team. They had another beautiful day, and were able to take a leisurely pace up to camp and enjoy the views of Aconcagua along the way. They arrived in base

The team continued up the Vacas Valley to the camp called Casa de Piedra today, trekking in beautiful weather. It was a 5-6 hour hike today and from their new location they have their first real views of Aconcagua. Everyone is doing great and getting into the rhythm of expedition

The team hiked into the mountains today to their first camp at a place called Pampa de Lenas. They had a beautiful warm day to start their expedition and arrived in camp by 4pm this afternoon. For dinner tonight they enjoyed a traditional Asada which is a variety of steak

Jacob emailed a photo from in front of the Executive Hotel in Mendoza. The team is en route up to the small ski resort of Penitentes, where they will finalize their packing and pass loads along for the arrieiros (mule drivers) to load onto their mules for the hike into

The team met yesterday as the last of the crew arrived in Mendoza. They did the final checks to be sure that everyone had the gear they needed, and then retreated to a local pub for a "Team Meeting" before dinner. They enjoyed the classic steak and Malbec dinner in

Our final team for the 2011/12 Aconcagua team is meeting in Mendoza today! They'll spend the afternoon checking gear and enjoying a beautiful summer day in Mendoza Argentina. It's a beautiful city with sidewalk cafe's and big city parks every couple of blocks. They'll go out for a "welcome dinner"
