Gary Falk
Tragically, we lost Gary to a climbing accident in the Tetons in the summer of 2016. The hole in the heart of the Mountain Trip family is enormous. He was a leader, a mentor, and a dear friend. We miss him terribly. Below are the words Gary chose to use as his introduction to all of you:
I am an IFMGA/AMGA Mountain Guide working year-round leading trips in the Teton, San Juan, and Central Alaska Ranges as well as in South America. I love teaching the basics of rock and alpine climbing and skiing to beginners, as well as taking more experienced guests on the mountain experience of their dreams.
Whether on a hard, technical rock or ice route, an expedition to a high altitude peak, or a big ski descent, I find myself always thinking about my wife and son, making it my number one priority for me and my guests to return home in one piece. Having fun is paramount, and I guess it’s my Midwest upbringing that allow me to understand the power that the mountains can have on the uninitiated to make positive changes in their lives and create great self-confidence.
I also have a degree in Kinesiology and I worked as a personal trainer in Jackson, Wyoming for almost a decade. For those of you who pay attention to such things – I am an Aquarius, I prefer dogs to cats and I can quote most of the Big Lebowski!
