Well, perhaps “party” is not the accurate term, but several Mountain Trip teams spent the night at Base Camp on the Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier, awaiting the weather to improve so they can fly out to verdant Talkeetna. One flight made it into Base Camp yesterday, and a handful of our climbers clambered aboard.
From our West Rib team, Jochen, Michael, Jason and Nick all flew out to Talkeetna, leaving lead guide Con on the glacier.
Our May 22 team is all awaiting a flight, as is our UAE 2 team.
The weather is pretty crummy in Talkeetna right now, with lots of rain falling on the climbers waiting to fly to the glacier.
We’ll keep you all posted!
Amy, May 22 Team–Glad to hear the group has such good sense to get off the mountain after reaching 17,200 and running into persistent bad weather. And most glad you are all safe. Hope you are on a plane toward home!!!!
