The team called in from 14,200′, enjoying the protection of their cook tent, as the wind outside whipped past. They hiked over to a pretty spectacular spot known as The Edge of The World, at the edge of the broad basin that makes the camp site. The name comes form the fact that when you peer off the edge, you’re looking down about 4,000′ of air at the northeast Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier! It is an impressive view!
After their hike, the team climbed up to the fixed lines, and climbed up the fixed lines for a ways, before the wind convinced them to descend. This was both good exercise and good training, as they will most likely string some fixed lines of their own when they puch up the Upper Rib route.
Here is the team!
