Hi everyone,
Aaron here with the final dispatch from the May 11 expedition. Id like to thank Wilco, Peter, Fred, Rob, Robert, and Melle for coming out and climbing with us. We had a great trip filled with tough weather and a long stay at 14 camp.
The team flew in on time and made good progress to camps at 7800′ and 11k. We traveled through tough, windy conditions to reach our camp at 14000′. At 14 we were greeted by numerous other Mountain Trip teams and arctic cold and wind. Temps frequently dropped below -30f at night but our team stayed strong (and warm) hoping that our patience would be rewarded with clear weather that would allow us to try for the summit.
Unfortunately the weather did not change and after 12 days of waiting we descended to Base Camp. The walk out went well and before midnight we were at the airstrip and settling in for the night. We ended the trip with breakfast at the iconic Roadhouse in Talkeetna and dinner and drinks in Anchorage.
Thanks again to all the climbers and to my co-guides Fisher and Nicole. I’m looking forward to climbing with you again here in Alaska or elsewhere.
Cheers
Aaron
Hi Aaron, Fischer, Nicole!
Thank you for the preparation, organization, guidance and advice during this expedition. It has been a great adventure, experience and pleasure to be part of your team. I already miss the wind, snow, cold, the pain, building snow walls, the beautiful views, the team spirit and good conversations in the kitchen tent. All in all a good reason to come back one day! Thanks again and good luck to all of you!
Cheers,
Wilco
