Sneaking in a shady lap on Comic Relief 2.0 in Bla Sneaking in a shady lap on Comic Relief 2.0 in Black Canyon before the temps really crank up!

The route is an 8-pitch, 5.11b variation of the classic Comic Relief. It tackles steeper and higher-quality adjacent pitches, including the infamous Lightning Bolt Cracks, which offers sustained finger locks on incredible zig-zagging thin hand cracks, and features massive exposure above the Gunnison River.

Pitch for pitch, it’s one of the best multi-pitch climbs in The Black as well as Colorado!

Five summits this week! Two more Mountain Trip te Five summits this week!

Two more Mountain Trip teams stood on top of Denali, bringing our total to five summits in seven days. With the forecast looking stable over the next few days, we're hoping to add to that list. Wishing the best of luck to every one of our climbers still working their way up.

THREE summits in THREE days! Mountain Trip has su THREE summits in THREE days!

Mountain Trip has successfully put three teams on top of Denali in the last three days, and we have more teams making their way up to High Camp right now. The work, the weather windows, the long days on the rope—it’s all paying off. Huge congrats to our climbers and guides crushing it out there.

This is the part of the climb everyone trains for. This is the part of the climb everyone trains for. Teams at High Camp are dialing in for a summit push, and the teams at 14 Camp are getting ready to move up. The upper mountain is going to be busy in the days ahead. Proud of these crews.

Busy stretch on Denali. Our higher teams got a cac Busy stretch on Denali. Our higher teams got a cache in up on the ridge yesterday, which is some of the most exposed terrain on the whole route, and now they’ve got their sights set on moving up to High Camp.

Meanwhile, our other teams are still grinding it out lower on the mountain, putting in the long, heavy days that build the foundation for everything that comes after.

We couldn’t be more proud of how all our teams have climbed so far this season. Denali asks a lot of everyone who steps onto it, from the weather holds in Talkeetna, to the haul up the glacier, to the thin air and cold up high. Every one of these crews has met it head-on.

Move days on Denali don’t always come with bluebir Move days on Denali don’t always come with bluebird skies.

Sometimes it’s flat light, blowing snow, and visibility that turns familiar glacier into a guessing game. This is where a guide’s experience really comes into play. Reading wands, trusting the compass, and keeping a rope team moving safely when the world goes white.

Right now we’ve got teams making moves on the lower mountain in less-than-perfect conditions, pushing higher with skill, patience, and respect for what the mountain throws at them. Progress doesn’t always look like sunshine and summit selfies. Sometimes it’s a steady rope team disappearing into the clouds, doing the work.

Our teams made the most of yesterday’s brief windo Our teams made the most of yesterday’s brief window, pushing around Windy Corner and dropping caches just below 14 camp. That window has since closed, and teams are back on hold, either pinned down at Camp 2 or grounded in Talkeetna.

Windy Corner sits at around 13,500 feet and is one of the most exposed sections of the West Buttress, often shut down by wind for days. Getting through it with a load of gear sets the team up to move fast when the next opening comes.

The weather finally gave us a break, and teams too The weather finally gave us a break, and teams took full advantage. Today saw caches dropped just below 14 Camp after rounding windy corner. This a huge step forward on the West Buttress.

When the clouds clear at Camp 2, the alpenglow over the Alaska Range is impossible to beat. Being there is a surreal feeling and worth every storm day.

Spring adventures recap, continued! Mountain Trip Spring adventures recap, continued!

Mountain Trip guide Kaylee Walden (@kay.leewalden) took advantage of a last-minute opportunity to guide heli-skiing in Alaska with @alaskaheliskiing. Our roots are in the big snowy mountains of the Last Frontier, and we’re always excited when one of our ranks decides to head north in search of snow. It looks like she found it!

From our home in the San Juan Mountains of Telluride, Ouray, and Silverton, to the spines and glaciers of Alaska, our ski and splitboard guides are true, dyed-in-the-wool powder-hounds who are always out there looking for the best time on two planks ⛷️ (or one 🏂).

If you haven’t skied with Kaylee yet, what are you waiting for?! Come shred with her in Colorado or Alaska.

Spring adventures recap, continued! Suzanna Louri Spring adventures recap, continued!

Suzanna Lourie (@suzanna.lourie) and John Collis (@westernclimbingguides) also had a productive trip to Chamonix, climbing routes like the Modica-Noury on Mont Blanc du Tacul and the Perroux-Profit on the Aiguille du Midi, right underneath the summit station bridge!

Notably, they also climbed the North Face of Les Grands Charmoz, a long and committing route that takes a plumb line up one the dark north faces of the Mont Blanc massif.

Bravo Suzanna and John!

Spring guide feature: Ashley Klassen After a bus Spring guide feature: Ashley Klassen

After a busy winter of splitboard guiding around Telluride and Silverton, Mountain Trip guide Ashley Klassen (@a.klassyone) spent her April riding the glaciers and peaks of the Pacific Northwest. Snowboarding Mount Baker and completing the Forbidden Traverse were some of the highlights. She was joined for part of the journey by Mountain Trip guides Chris Lile (@lile.chris) and Stephen Inman.

Washington has some of the most remote wilderness in the lower 48 states, filled with glacier-covered mountains and deep rain forest valleys in between. The Cascades require a determined attitude for the approaches and well-rounded mountain skills to navigate the glaciers guarding the summits.

Shout out to Ashley, Chris, and Stephen! 👊🏻
Spring adventures recap, continued! Guides Carly Spring adventures recap, continued!

Guides Carly Casternovia (@_carly_jane) and Jesse Yon (@jesse_m_yon) ventured up the historic Frendo Spur, which splits the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi. First climbed in 1944, this line is clearly visible from the town of Chamonix in the valley below, and it’s one of the most aesthetic lines around.

With a mix of steep snow, rock, ice, and often a bivouac high on the route, it demands all of the skills of a well-rounded alpinist. The grade clocks in around 5.9 AI3 M4-, and it’s about 4,000 feet tall!
