I was raised in rural Idaho, where my earliest memories revolve around the mountains—hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping with my family. In high school, I discovered rock climbing and immediately knew it was more than just a pastime. Climbing became my obsession, and I started building my life around it.
I studied engineering at the University of Wyoming, but it was working for the Outdoor Program that opened my eyes to guiding as a career. Mentors shaped my early progression as a climber and introduced me to the art of leading others in the mountains. It clicked instantly. Not long after, I left school to guide full time.
Since then, I’ve spent years traveling across the western US, guiding everything from rock and ice climbing to ski tours, mountaineering, and canyoneering. I’ve fallen in love with countless places, and honestly, I couldn’t pick a favorite if I tried.
On my days off, I gravitate toward the kind of Type 2 fun that leaves you smiling through the suffering—big mountain linkups, exploring desert trails on my dirt bike, or just relaxing on the couch and letting the body recover.
Guiding, to me, is about mentorship, stewardship, and joy. Whether I’m helping someone find confidence on the sharp end or navigating complex terrain, I strive to create experiences that are memorable, educational, and empowering.
