June 10th Team – Settling in at Camp 2

The June 10th team is settled in at Camp 2 today, with plans to head out for a cache day tomorrow if the weather cooperates. The team is looking to leave camp around 9:30 AM and start pushing supplies higher up the route.

Cache days are a foundational part of the expedition-style rhythm on Denali. The team will climb up with a load of supplies, bury the cache in the snow, and then descend back to Camp 2 to sleep. This back-and-forth approach follows the time-tested mountaineering principle of climb high, sleep low, which helps the body acclimatize while steadily moving supplies higher up the mountain.

The next likely stop for the cache is around Windy Corner, sitting at about 13,500 feet. Windy Corner is one of the more notorious sections of the West Buttress, known for funneling wind off the upper mountain and shutting down progress when conditions turn. Catching it on a good day is part of why the team is keeping a close eye on the forecast before making the push.

For now, the June 10th team is at Camp 2, resting up and getting ready to make a move when the window opens. With a solid plan in place and the team finding its rhythm on the route, the June 10th team is in a good spot to keep building momentum.
