May 19th Team – Rest day camp 2!

The May 19th team took a weather day at camp today, sitting tight as conditions kept them in place. Plans for moving higher will pick back up as soon as the window opens.

Weather holds are a familiar rhythm by this point in any Denali expedition, and the team is taking it in stride. Days like this are a chance for the body to keep adapting to the elevation, recover from earlier days on the rope, and refuel with hot meals and plenty of water. The work the team puts in on the off-days often pays off as much as the work they put in on the climbing days, especially as the route gets higher and more demanding.

There weren’t any other significant updates from the team today, but a quiet day at camp is usually a good sign. It means folks are resting, eating, staying warm, and waiting out the weather the way climbers on Denali have been doing for decades.

For now, the May 19th team is staying patient, staying ready, and keeping an eye on the forecast. We’ll have more to share once the next opportunity to move higher comes around.

Family and friends are encouraged to leave comments for their loved ones on this expedition. Please keep in mind that climbers will not be able to see posts or comments until they return to Talkeetna at the end of the expedition.
