The weather finally cleared enough to give the May 14th team a window to move, and they made good use of it with a successful back-carry day. The team headed down to the pass to retrieve their cache and hauled everything back up to Camp 2. The day went smoothly, and with the cache safely reunited at camp, the team now has all of their supplies consolidated in one place. After several days of being held in place by storms, it’s a welcome step forward and a key piece of setup before pushing higher on the mountain.
In addition to the climbing work, the guides are planning to use the time at camp to check in with each climber individually and go over areas of improvement. These one on one conversations are a valuable part of guided expeditions. They give climbers personalized feedback on things like rope team movement, pacing, layering, and other small adjustments that can make a big difference higher on the mountain. Catching these details now, before the team moves up to 14 Camp and beyond, sets everyone up for stronger, more confident climbing on the upper mountain.
