Starting up the Giant Scree field heading to Camp 1

The team left basecamp this morning and moved up to Camp 1 at over 16,000ft! They’ve been acclimatizing and made one trip up to Camp 1 already as part of the preparation for this move. They’re doing great and settled in at camp for a windy night on Aconcagua.

Here’s the evening expedition dispatch from Shneur up at Camp 1:

It’s day 8 the team arrived at Camp 1 all in good health and spirits the ominous scree field they experienced on the Friday carry day was a pleasant stroll today. Dinner was excellent especially the Fish Burgers – it’s amazing what can be cooked at 16,400 feet. Tonight the team is hunkered down in their tents experiencing the famous white winds. It sounds just like the Hollywood movies. Tomorrow we are taking a gear carry to Camp 2, winds should have died down by then.
