The 2026 Aconcagua season is underway for Mountain Trip and our guests!  Mountain Trip has been guiding on Aconcagua for more than 30 years and we’re proud of the program that we’ve developed with our friends and partners in Argentina.

The first trip of this season is being led by our long time lead guide Fermin Avila , who has guided nearly 50 expeditions on Aconcagua over the last decades.  Fermin joins climbers Traian Moga and Daniel Halici on this expedition. They are already on the approach to the mountain having met in Mendoza yesterday and launched up the trail this morning. They’ll be climbing the mountain from the Ameghino Valley approach up to Plaza Argentina basecamp and then descending the other side to Plaza de Mulas basecamp and out the Horcones Valley. Tonight they are in “Pampas de Lenas” the first camp on the trek to basecamp at about 9000 ft/2750m.

The team will be sharing some pictures and dispatches from the trip and we’ll share them here, so follow along on their journey and wish them luck on their attempt to climb the highest peak in South America!
