The June 13th Team is wrapping up their expedition and on track to be off the mountain today. After a committed push up to High Camp, the team made the decision to begin their descent, prioritizing safety as weather patterns continued to shift. With their gear packed and route familiar, they’re moving steadily through the final miles back to basecamp at 7,200 feet (2,195 m).
Their return covers close to 13 miles of travel and a vertical descent of more than 6,000 feet. The team moved confidently across crevassed terrain and steep snow sections, keeping group cohesion and morale high. As they closed out the final stretch across the lower Kahiltna, guides maintained a steady pace and clear communication with the team.
Though they didn’t push past high camp due to dangerous avalanche conditions on the autobahn, the experience was rewarding and skill-building. Everyone remained healthy throughout the trip, and the decision to descend was made from a grounded place of respect for the mountain. The team is expected to check in at base today and fly out as soon as conditions allow.

Congratulations for making it to your finish line, hands up, it’s still a personal WIN. Be proud.
