June 17th Team Keeps Three Members at High Camp

The June 17th team is calling in from High Camp (17,200 ft / 5,243 m), where three climbers are currently holding position. The rest of the team made the call to descend back to 11,000 ft (3,353 m) due to continued elevated avalanche risk on the upper mountain.

Conditions between High Camp and the summit remain unstable, and while the climbers who remained are keeping a close eye on the forecast, the chances of a safe summit window are looking slim at this time.

Despite the uncertainty, morale is high. The team is comfortable, well-fueled, and grateful for the warm, high-calorie dehydrated dinners packed specifically for this elevation. Everyone is resting and staying sharp while monitoring how conditions evolve.

With no new snowfall but continued wind loading above, the next 24–48 hours will be critical for determining whether any summit bids are possible. For now, the team is staying grounded, safe, and focused on smart decision-making in this high alpine environment.

Stay tuned and check back tomorrow for the latest update from the upper mountain.
