The June 18th team is taking a rest day at Camp 2 (11,000 ft / 3,353 m) today while they wait out high avalanche danger on the upper mountain. With weather and snow conditions still stabilizing, the crew is staying patient and playing it safe — enjoying some downtime and plenty of good food.
Camp 2 sits in a wide basin with sweeping views of the lower Kahiltna Glacier and dramatic peaks all around, including Mount Hunter to the east. It’s a peaceful spot to rest up before the big climb ahead — and a perfect place to soak in the mountain energy.
Once conditions allow, the next move will be a big one: ascending Motorcycle Hill and Squirrel Hill, followed by a traverse around Windy Corner to reach 14 Camp (14,200 ft / 4,328 m). The team is feeling strong, acclimating well, and looking forward to getting higher on the route soon.
The radio dispatch came through a little broken up today, but you can still catch the vibes — tap the recording link below to hear the latest from the team on the glacier.
