The June 17th team is calling in tonight from Camp 2 at 11,000 ft / 3,353 m, after a big day on the mountain. The team carried gear up to 13,500 ft / 4,115 m, climbing steep terrain toward Windy Corner and gaining nearly 2,500 vertical feet. This carry is a key part of their acclimatization plan, allowing the group to lighten future loads while preparing their bodies for higher elevation. Most of their overnight gear remains at Camp 2, where they’ll return to rest and recover before moving higher.
The highlight of the day? Cookies and cream ice cream back at camp — a sweet surprise and well-earned treat after hours of climbing. Spirits are high and the team is in great shape as they continue their push up the West Buttress. More movement to come soon as they prepare for the next big step.
